Social Studies Council (SSC)

The Social Studies Council (SSC) seeks to promote the study of social studies in Alberta and constantly improve the teaching of social studies.

To carry out its objectives, the Social Studies Council encourages and assists the establishment of regional councils. The Council also promotes inservice sessions to improve social studies education throughout the province and encourages dialogue relating to curriculum issues. Social studies resource people are available upon request.

The Council holds an annual meeting with well-known keynote speakers and a variety of workshops providing stimulation, incentives and classroom tips. The conference provides an invaluable opportunity for interaction and liaison among colleagues, and a perfect opportunity for networking.

The SSC publishes the Focus newsletter and the One World in Dialogue e-journal.
